Im using one of those Tape - to - mp3 adapters and for 80% of the time it works great. Its a good thing that my car came with a tape player, its great not having to get an aftermarket piece to hear my mp3 music. In any case every now and then my tape player will spit out the tape at me. What happens is that I will pop the tape in and about 3-4 times it will auto-reverse. After that it will spit out the tape and thats that. Has anyone else had this issue? How were you able to resolve it? It can become quite a headache when youre driving.

not to be a smarta$$, but my solution was to replace the POS factory stereo altogether. get something with an aux input for your mp3 player. hard wired, not FM modulator. might as well replace the speakers while you're at it too, drop an amp or two and some low end in there. 8)

I have been having the same problems with my tape deck also.. I used to take the cassette and tap it on the gear shifter a few times because I thought it was the adapter. Then after replacing it and realizing that it was the tape deck I just take the cassette and once it is in.. I kinda move the cassette around with my finger until it pops into place...

But I have realized that I am going to have to replace the deck with an Ipod
compatible player... I haven't decided which one to get thought...

Good luck to you ...

You hit the nail right on the head, that has been my fix so far.

I've been having the problem with the tape adapter coming out randomly (seems to be worse in colder temperatures).

I've given up on using FM or tape adapter for my XM radio - of the two, the tape adapter is the best for consistent sound quality, but the spontaneous ejections are very annoying.

I think I will get the later RAZ head unit and the PIE aux. input adapter. I will have to get the harness adapter for the later model radio, but I won't get the CD changer - I just need the input for my XM. I'll have to do it X2 (2 cars). Don't have the money right now - may start accumulating the parts as I can.

I've had this happen to me also. Mind u I was driving my 99 4 Runner, so completely different make of vehicle. So its not unusual, i've had it happen a few times. The stock head unit in the 4 Runner, I believe is made by infinity??? Maybe just a coincidence idk?
