Las Vegas Sin City Rendezvous 2003 |
 Sin City Rendezvous,  March 28 - 30, 2003 - Las Vegas, Nevada

California Carpool

The San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles members met at windy Ontario Hills Mall at 9am to caravan out to Primm where Vegas Member (and former President) Roger Waters and Washington DC member Don Scruggs were waiting to greet us into Vegas. Don and his wife flew out from D.C. and rented an M in Arizona and drove over from there.

Coming up to Primm

From Primm, everyone went into Vegas to their appropriate hotel and checked in. We all got together at the Ramada and checked out each others rides for a while outside, then went in for the festivities. Pitchers of Soda and Beer as well as some darn good snack/finger food were provided. Swampy set up a laptop with wireless internet for people to log into the forum and read/post. There were door prize drawings and some great conversations going on. Door prize winners are in the photo’s section for Friday on Swampy’s website. After those festivities died down a bit, some went to the Cannery Casino and others went their own way Vegas Style.

Everyone signed “The Event Sign”

Saturday morning, we all got back together at 9am with clean cars and held the judging. Winners are shown in the photos for Saturday.  After the plaques were handed out, we all went in for breakfast at the Ramada. I think we kinda overwhelmed them. No. We DID. Their normal morning rush is probably 1 ˝ people. Service was pretty bad, but so was the neighborhood (thanks for telling us Roger!). SDMike had to get back home after breakfast, so we all bid him farewell.

Awards were handed out for the following categories: (left to right)

Don "Cowman" Hanesworth won for "Most Cruisin"
Charrel De Luca won for "Most Clean"
Roger Waters won for "Most Mods"
Brenda Fischer won for "Most Classy"

Breakfast aside, quite a few of us went to the LV Speedway where we looked at swap meet items, checked out fast Mopars, ate some more, drank some more, watched some drags from the likes of Barracudas to Prowlers to Chargers to Neon’s and everything that Mopar has ever made just about. Checked out the show cars in the parking lot as well, including some very cherry 300C’s and G’s. Even saw a Sebring that was RRW, blown Hemi, big ol’ nasty slicks and looked like it could do a nice 7 second quarter or better!

We all split up from there with separate plans for dinner. Bryan & Connie wanted to eat at the Canyon Star restaurant in the Venetian. Joe and Aro joined them for some killer Rib Eye (and other things). Good call on the Wine Joe/Aro! Those 4 had plans to see the Blue Man Group, and ended up seeing Charell and John at the Luxor who decided to join them and got tickets one row back and a few over. Blonda and Lee also decided on going and actually got upgraded tickets closer to center and up closer to the stage!

Blonda and Lee we never seen again after that and the 6 of them decided to have “dessert” at the Luxor Café. Finished the night with Gambling and everyone decided to play it by ear Sunday.

Connie and Bryan HAD to have Dim Sum for brunch, so we headed for Chinatown. John called Them and said they’d come down and watch them eat if they weren’t done by the time they met back with them.  Bryan & Connie just got out of eating when they showed up. Some Asian girl  was checkin’ out Bryan’s M while the 4 were talking in the parking lot. Looked back over after they passed and her boyfriend was now staring at Bryan’s M. There was a red ricer that had red “tint” so Bryan took a few pictures for SD Mike to see what it would look like.

On the way to the freeway, Bryan pulled along side a white M with a woman in it. Bryan & Connie tried to hand her a tri-fold, but she wouldn’t take it. Poor lady. She was going almost the same place the 4 of them were headed. She had to have been thinking she was being chased by them cause they kept turning the same places she was. Haha. TAKE THE TRI-FOLD or we’ll KILL YOU!!! :D

Anyway, long story short, the rest you can see in pictures/descriptions on Swampy’s site. Traffic was horrible between Baker and Victorville, taking 2 hours to go 30 miles. Eww.  Saw another M on the freeway, definite club potential. FAST driver.

Special thanks go to Roger and Paulette for organizing everything, GREAT JOB!!
