I do have a portable cb and live near an interstate, still interesting to listen on the conversations from time-to-time.

These are junk and your SWR rating will be through the roof. Get a K-30 magnet mount or a Wilson Lil Wil.

Well guys I changed the antennas on my truck. Went with just a Wilson 5000 Trucker antenna 5" shaft with a magnet mount. 49" whip. MY SWR dropped to around 1.2-1.5 depending on where I'm at. I can receive up to 6 miles and transmit up to 6 depending on where I'm at. The nice thing is that I can remove the antenna with ease.

Antenna $79 I-80 TA Truck stop Youngstown OH.

Well I bought something for the M but not through them right channel radios. My local CB shop matched the price and tuned it. Will have pictures of it tomorrow. This Radio is tiny. It will not fit in the storage cubby hole beneath the radio unless I either remove it or possibly drill a hole in the back and run the Antenna wiring or Coax behind there.

Here are the pictures of the radio.
I'm running a 1.7-1.9 on the SWR meter with the Wilson Lil Will 36". I talked to my CB shop about that and the only way to fix that was to switch to a longer antenna. The Wilson 5000 that I have on my tundra worked great and brought the SWR rating down to a 1.1-1.4. That antenna is 48"+ the 5" shaft. But it will not fit in the parking deck at school. Heck I don't think the Lil Will will fit in the parking deck at school.

Standing Wave Ratio....has to do with the tuning of the antenna to the amplifier of the radio. If I recall 1.2 SWR is the goal for optimum transmit range.......
NO I AM NOT a REDNECK, but been in the trucking industry long time.....Good Buddy.....

I'll do it. I'll be upgrading the CB radio to a 10 meter radio within the next couple of months. Yes I no know my CB trucker antenna that I usually run on my truck looks stupid on my 300M but man does it get out. I max out at or around 9.5 miles which I think is pretty good.

On a follow-up, has anyone ever tried installing one in place of the cubby?
