300m Special headlight - what is this?

I recently purchased a set of 300M Special xenon headlights, and am prepping them for installation in my 300M. But I noticed something on the side that I do not recognize. It is on the right side with red part and a gray "tube" tilted to one side. What is this, and is it needed when installed in my 300M? I assume it is perhaps part of a leveling system?

Yeah. It is part of the leveling mechanism.

But the leveling system is not needed, correct? My 2014 Durango has it, but it is a minor nice to have, not a major upgrade.

It is a manual leveling option. Doesn't need to be hooked up. They do freeze up over time though so you may not want to mess with it.

Question - I have the 2004 300M factory manuals, and do not see anything about the 300M Special in the wiring diagrams (such as the xenon headlights with ballasts, side mirror turn signals, etc.) or anywhere else in the manual. Was there a separate factory manual for the Special series?

Special Headlights, plug and play all years. "Adjuster" noted id side to side manual aligning adjustment. There is another manual adjustment at the top center that often seizes. http://300mclub.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=31029
Turn signal mirrors are plug ad play on 02's and may be for later years. Wires can be added if needed to doors.
