Watch for a sign-up thread coming soon. I expect to begin working on the lodging accommodations in the next couple of weeks.

Ok, I've spoken with BigMike60 and he's ready to start working with the 500 Festival people for the Mayors Breakfast. So this week I'm going to talk with the hotel we used last year to get a club rate for us. When I get some definite info I will start a sign-up thread during the last week of January for the hotel and for the Mayors Breakfast tickets.

The sign-up thread will continue to evolve with more information as I get the agenda for the meet set so watch it for the new information as it becomes available.

This meet is second only to Carlisle but remember, you won't see Indy cars doing 230 mph at Carlisle!

So...I might be able to make the Breakfast, and leave in the afternoon to make it back to Cincy....then come back wee early Sunday morning.

No. The hotel and Mayors Breakfast are 2 separate costs. It's not a package deal. You need not stay at the hotel if you have other accomodations and you're not required to go to the breakfast unless you want to do the lap on the track. If you choose not to attend the breakfast but want to be with the members at the track, gate admission for practice/qualifications will be required.

There are a lot of great events to think about attending during May. I hope to hit the track with John for more than just the Bump Day/Breakfast. Please bear in mind that doing a lap is dependent on weather and how qualifying has gone up to that point. We have done a lap the last two years with no problem, but there is no hard and fast "guarantee" that can be made.

More details as we learn of them. 8)

All right people, lets get this meet rolling. I got with my sign guy, and have ordered 18 signs. Half will say one thing and half will say the other. I am at home and ordered from work so I am not 100% on what I put on them, but here is my best guess.

They will be similar to last year's sign as far as having two lines on the sign. One is:

300M'S AT INDY MAY 16,2009
LAPPING THE COMPETITION!

the other says:

300M'S AT INDY MAY 16,2009
TAKING THE CHECKERED FLAG!

Now the way this will work as in past years is that the first 18 to sign up, and show up, will get a sign for free until I run out. Once we get on site, the earliest sign-ups will get to choose which of the one's they want, and then we will go that way until only one style is left, and that style will go to the remaining signer-uppers. Left over signs [if there are any] of each type can be bought in the same pecking order for $20, with proceeds going to the Club. Bear in mind that you do not have to stay at the host hotel, or go to the breakfast [$60] to be eligible, but you will show up and participate in the fun. Distribution day will probably be Saturday.

Additionally, I have again latched on to some 1/18 diecast Indy cars, just like the last two years, and if all goes well I will have enough of those to distribute to attendees.

John is working on getting the Hotel stuff arranged and I have calls in to the INDY 500 Festival people to set up arrangements for the Breakfast, so we are running at high speed already. DON'T MISS THIS EVENT. THE LAP ON THE TRACK IS WORTH IT ALL, AND THE FESTIVAL PRINCESSES...WELL WHAT CAN AN OLD GUY SAY?

OK - so my newbie-ness is definitely showing. I thought this event was Memorial Day weekend - 4 days- so doing a 16 hour (as it is with stops) from CT to IN was doable. Now I see it's the weekend before. So no go for me this year - super bummed!! :(

So every one have great time and I'll meet you in Carlisle 8)

John will post a sign-up screen shortly and it will have the info on paying. We have normally paid the Club Treasurer either with PayPal or by check and then she will pay Indy 500 Festival with one payment for everyone going to the Breakfast. I am still awaiting details from the 500 Festival and then will put up the info when they get back to me.

I'm still waiting to receive the contract from the hotel. As soon as I get it and it is finalized, I will post the details.

We pay for the track events as a club, so you PayPal the money to the treasurer. Hotel reservations are made on your own, using the group rate negotiated by the club. They'll put us all in the same area of the hotel and set aside a section of the parking lot we can use.

I have spoken with the POC for the Indy 500 Festival. The price of the Breakfast is the same as previous years. $60 per person. No reduced price for kids [sorry]. The $60 gets you a sumptuous breakfast, you get to rub elbows with Indiana mayors and Indy Princesses, a lap on the track, a pass to the garage area, parking in close to the Pagoda, special seating in the stands, a speaker of note will speak at the breakfast - last year it was Rahal, and a lot of great commeraderie will be had. If you pay and then cannot attend we will do our best to sell your seat to another person who might be able to attend so you don't get stuck with a late breaking emergency that prevents attendance. This happened with Rick last year. Here is the set-up.

Tickets for the Breakfast, etc., will be handled as follows, and like we did the last two years. Paulette Waters our Treasurer will take PayPal payments to her from all that are signing up if they want to go to the Breakfast and do a lap on the track [you don't have to go to the Breakfast to attend the meet so you can sign-up on the Club site to get in the pecking order for a sign once that gets posted] and payments of $60 should be sent to her at the attached Paypal link: Go to paypal and send $60 to: treasurer300mclub@hotmail.com

She will also take Checks made out to:

Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club
c/o Paulette Waters
1270 Del Lilly Ln
Las Vegas, NV 89123-1480

Paulette will compile a list and at the appropriate time make a single payment to the 500 Festival. Tickets and waiver of liability forms will be sent to John, as we did last year, and he will distribute them the day before at the hotel, or as otherwise arranged for those who need it done differently. The waiver of liability form is a must to run on the track.

I urge you to check your schedules and make your reservations as soon as possible so that we will have a good frame of reference to deal with the 500 Festival people and can get the right number of 10 person tables for the Club. As with last year, the event is a "Black and White" affair [checkered flag colors] so plan on wearing white and black clothing [Club jackets and hats were good] if you have it for the Breakfast. I will have assorted favors, lights, hats?, signs, etc. as appropriate to commemorate the event. Drop-dead date for making a Breakfast payment to Paulette is 30 April 2009. She must have your payment by that date or you will have to try to make reservations directly with the 500 Festival.

Those wishing to attend the meet but not the Breakfast are welcome to do so. Entry times and fees for non-Breakfast attendees are generally as follows: Gates normally open about 0830 and the entry fee is a modest amount - like $10.

It's starting to come together. Hotel and Breakfast details are posted as well as a sign-up thread. Let's make this Indy meet the biggest ever!

FWIW, I did negotiate the room price per night down a whopping $2 over last year. :D I know it's not much but I was informed that there was a price increase from last year, so we at least avoided that and got a break.
