CT / NEW ENGLAND / NY Meet SEP 12, 2010

This is a fix'n, mod'n, eat'n, drink'n, swim'n, chill'n meet open to all 300M, DI and LHF members willing to make the ride to CT.

This meet will be held at my home in Trumbull, CT. We hope to pull from CT, MA, RI, frankly- anywhere in New England, as well as NY and NJ. Trumbull is in Southwest CT w/ easy access from the Merritt (RT-15), I-95, or I-84; I'm only a little over 3 hours from Philadelphia, so all are welcome.

The meet is on, rain or shine and regardless of the number of participants. So no last minute cancellations if you are making plans. There are already some committed mods being preformed to a couple cars in preparation for Ocean City in OCT.

The meet will be held SUNDAY SEPT 12th - all day - from as early as you want to show up until the last folks head out. If weather does not cooperate on SUN, the rain date will be SAT SEPT 11. And if both days are going to be rain, we'll stick w/ Sunday and juggle the cars in and out of the garage; or if we can get a couple canopies, we can cover 4 cars at a time.

I only have limited sets of tools, so plan to bring your tools, parts, etc. for your mods and/or service. I do have a hydraulic jack and second one committed, but we'll need more jack stands. I have 5 GAL buckets for liquid waste disposal after. There is plenty of parking, poolside seating, tables for eating and workspace. You may want to bring folding chairs for hang'n outside of the pool patio area.

The the eat'n, drink'n, swim'n, chill'n area...
Image

The fix'n, mod'n area - 2 bays and plenty of driveway and parking...
ImageImage

The gas grill will be available to run all day / evening. Pool is heated - so it will be open regardless of outside temperature and set to 83*. This is intended to be as much of an inter-club social meet as it may be a fix'n / mod'n meet.

This is a FREE event. I have a ton of hamburgers and hotdogs, condiments, iced tea, lemonade and more from recent parties for the kids and their friends- all to be donated to the greater good (us); plenty of plasticware too. I'd like participants to volunteer to bring sides, chips, deserts or other needed items. If everyone kicks in something, we'll be well fed. I'll have some slabs of ribs come dinner time along with some big tossed salads. This is strictly a BYOB event for 21 and up. I have coolers and will buy ice, but additional coolers/ice would be helpful.

If anyone is planning to come down SAT evening and stay over, I can recommend hotels near-by. My guest room has already been committed. Campers are welcome though. :)
If we do end up w/ any early morning people, breakfast/coffee will be provided.

If this is successful, I would hope this can become an annual event for CT, New England and the surrounding area.
Post, PM or Email questions.
Hope to see you in September!

Well the friend who was going to visit me for Labor Day can't make it (needs to spend his money on books), so I'll be able to afford to come. Any idea of the cost of a nearby hotel, or if I'd get in trouble for sleeping in my car? I have a number of things to do to my car. Transmission fluid/filter/drain plug, spark plugs, rear door courtesy lights, soft-touch knee bolster, soft-touch glove box, glove box light, and anything else I happen to collect.

Plugs can be done in 15 mins flat, may want to do those in advance for better MPG on the drive :D

Thanks everyone for the fast replies and updates on tentatives. Here is the current list and growing quickly.
Now that its stopped raining, I will get pics up tomorrow of the our work and play areas :)
Also - I should have secured a good local hotel by tomorrow for folkl who have requested this.
Oh- and besides spouses being welcome, kids who can swim (or won't fall in if they can't) are welcome. My son and fellow car entusiast is 13 - so bring them if you like. Only rule: no floaters at the end of the day.

If anyone is interested in having a J-intake kit installed at the meet let me know. That would make this "business" and justify it to the family.

800 miles from Indy to Trumbull. Wish I could make it Alan but I just returned from a 2600 mile trip to Florida. I love driving my M but even for me it's too soon for a 14 hour run to CT.

Thanks for the enthusiasm though :D

I added some stuff to the list Alan. Just got back from vacation and sorting through the boxes of parts. Hopefully the car is done this week.

We're off to a great start - Keith and Robert came in this evening - we grilled & chilled - then got the cars up on jacks stands, mapped out our projects and we're all set for tomorrow.

Looking forward to the rest of the arrivals. And you "maybe's," - come on down.
Plenty of PIX tomorrow.

They're all on Alan's camera, as far as I know.

I got a few small things done on my car. Spark plugs (the remaining four that I didn't get to at the JSCGP mod day labor day weekend), soft-touch glove box, rear speaker grills with a Luna touch, and tossed an LED in my dash clock. I sorta installed a soft-touch driver's knee bolster, but the radio-side of the bolster doesn't line up. I might have to do what anbstudio did and pull the vinyl from the 2001 bolster, and glue it to my factory 2002 plastic bolster.

So finally some pictures. Been crazy busy since the meet.
First off- thanks to everyone who came in making this event a success. I'd like this to be an annual event and next year, may be able to do SAT and SUN for some of the larger projects that were discussed and for more availability to everyone.
In attendance were- Robert Knapp (LUNA 300M Special), Keith Jarvis (Mercedes Benz c230 Kompressor), Fred Mayer (2004 Dodge Intrepid), and Seth and I (300M Special). A good time was had by all - plenty of food and drink - and we were BUSY! Robert and Keith came in SAT evening - we had a late dinner poolside off the grill and got started - cars up on jacks, projects planned out. Keith and Robert stayed at the house - I actually had time to get the guest room up. 1am crash time.
Sunday, we were back at it early - breakfast, auto parts store and grocery story (the wife's car was the only one drivable). We worked thru the day and night - only stopping for dinner. Fred came up from NJ SAT evening to hang out. We finally finished about 1am again - long days, but nice outcomes. Enjoy the pix - next stop - OCEAN CITY!

Step 1 - get the garage ready, put up signs...

So no pictures of me :), but here is what I was doing to prepare for Ocean City...

ImageImage

Fred made it late in the day...
ImageImage

Some results - more and better pictures will land in the lighting mods section when the interior lights are completed this coming weekend.
Keith is coming by Sunday so we can finish both cars actually.

The puddle lights on the Benz are actually white- the "blue" is reflection off my car.

This is a million color kit, will shoot some video as well this weekend.
