Time to get the juices flowing again. Caught this note off the Indy site.

The Celebration of Automobiles will return May 10-13, 2012 to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, leading into the 96th Indianapolis 500 with even more exciting activities for fans and participants after a wildly successful inaugural event in 2011.

2012 Celebration of Automobiles vehicles will honor "The Manufacturers of the Indianapolis 500" and the rich history of the world's greatest auto race.

Vintage-classic cars from 1920-70 produced by manufacturers participating in the Indianapolis 500 during that era will be the featured vehicles in 2012, such as Alfa-Romeo, Auburn, Bentley, Bugatti, Buick, Chrysler, Dodge, Duesenberg, Ferrari, Fiat, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Stutz and many more.

Special tribute will be paid to cars from Chevrolet, Honda and Lotus, the three engine manufacturers participating in the IZOD IndyCar Series and Indianapolis 500 starting in 2012.

The inaugural Celebration of Automobiles on May 14 featured more than 200 classic cars from 1911-61 - including many award winners from Concours d'Elegance competitions at revered venues such as Pebble Beach and Amelia Island - on display among some of the most iconic spots at IMS, including the Pagoda Plaza and Legends Row. The event was one of the most memorable highlights of the month-long 100th Anniversary Indianapolis 500.

"We're thrilled to welcome the return of the Celebration of Automobiles," said Jeff Belskus, Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation president and chief executive officer. "The feedback from participants and fans was so positive last May, and we were honored to play host to so many beautiful cars and enthusiasts. The Celebration of Automobiles was a magical event and quickly is evolving into another wonderful Month of May tradition in Indianapolis for everyone to enjoy."

The 2012 Celebration of Automobiles will feature an expanded schedule for participants and fans.

Registration will take place Friday, May 11. Entrants also can participate in a track lap, exhibit their cars and enjoy a new Welcome Reception at the world-renowned IMS Hall of Fame Museum.

Judging for the Celebration of Automobiles will take place Saturday, May 12 in a variety of classes. Winners will be announced that evening at the Awards Dinner, which will feature question-and-answer sessions with legendary Indianapolis 500 drivers and IMS Historian Donald Davidson and other activities.

A look back at the Inaugural Celebration of Automobiles, held in conjunction with the 100th Anniversary Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, will be the featured attraction on the next episode of "Car Crazy" on SPEED.

The episode, entitled "100 Years at Indy", will air on Sunday, August 7 at 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

If there is still enough interest I have no problem with getting the lodging set up again. I'm always up for it.

I am up for it if John is. But we need some numbers to make it worthwhile for the effort. I will be at the race and as many weekends as possible leading up to it as possible. I am glad that some members are still interested. If you come to Indy once you will be a fan for life, believe me. It is one of the true great, and affordable, sporting spectacles for the common gearhead. The Mayors' Breakfast and qualifying weekend are affordable and with the return of the Celebration of Automobiles happening again, it will be a super time.

You know she'll never really appreciate the race if she doesn't see it LIVE!

Don't think it is the 101st race. They missed a couple of years during WW II. The track did celebrate its 100th Anniversary last year though.

John gets all the breaks. Here is the latest posting off the IMS site. Wish I could get another vacation day.

GRAND-AM drivers and teams prepared for the inaugural Super Weekend at the Brickyard in July 2012 by testing Wednesday, Sept. 7 on the Grand Prix road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Testing also is scheduled from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, with Daytona Prototypes and GT cars from the Rolex Sports Car Series and Grand Sport and Street Tuner cars from the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. Fans are welcome to watch GRAND-AM testing Thursday for free from the South Terrace grandstands adjacent to the IMS Hall of Fame Museum.
