It snowed all night last night and all morning today. We got 23 inches in total. That's the most snow in one dump we've had since the 'blizzard of '77'. Spent most of the day with my blower getting the neigbour's driveways cleared. The city snowplow came around the corner onto my street and got stuck. He was there for almost 2 hours. Other city crews came and got him out and he made one pass up the middle of the street and got stuck again trying to turn the corner. Stuck for another 1 1/2 hrs till the city got him going again. Although I didn't ask for anything, between all the neighbours I received $75 cash, 1 bottle of rum, 1 bottle of whiskey, a still hot big container of just made Italian homemade soup and 3 cups of hot coffee while I was snow blowing. The plows will be by again overnight and I'll have to do the ends of everyone's driveways again tomorrow morning.
I had to go out this afternoon to refill my gas container for the blower and my 4x4 ranger went through it with no problem. There was just over a foot on the roads at the time.

I suppose we got lucky, the storm came east directly toward us, then skirted SE MI completely as it apparently gave the east cost a licking. Just been cold. Hoping it's warm enough to take the Jeep through the car wash tomorrow, since it'll be above freezing for the first time this year. Last chance for the foreseeable forecast. I never wash it when below freezing to avoid water getting into seams and freezing there.

Back out with the snow blower for most of the day today. The plows came through and the end of the driveways were 5 feet high :eek . Took about 45 minutes to do the end of each of the driveways that I did. My Ariens blower has run more in the last 2 days then since I bought it 5 years ago.

Yeah, that's a nope from me. Detroit's current extended forecast shows no snow until the start of Feb, maybe, but after today will be below freezing for the foreseeable future. 38F today, so I took advantage and washed the salt from my Jeep. Won't be able to wash it again until *maybe* sometime in Feb, possibly March due to daily highs being lucky to be in the 20s (still well below 0 Celsius, don't want water freezing in my joints and expanding them).

Ellis, I spent the weekend across the river from you in Buffalo, Tonawanda, and Niagara Falls, NY, drove out from MA on Saturday morning and drove back on Sunday afternoon.
Everywhere I went people were talking about snow coming, including signs on the highway!
I was glad to roll back into my driveway in MA well before any snow started.

Can call it a snow day for North Florida. Was gonna cut down the trees (have 3 left standing , just trunks about 6 ft tall) from earlier this year, but dad said...nah way to cold. 40 F ....yes that is a snow day for Jacksonville, for day time temperatures.

We've been fat and happy watching the east coast deal with lots of unusual weather (heard SC got a bit chilly?). Hasn't snowed much here in a couple of weeks. Snowing now, less than an inch yesterday, we'll see about today. I might drive to the office this afternoon in active snow for the first time this season. Hopefully my 4x4 is still working, after having to replace the shifter cable for the transfer case last Spring. Seemed to engage just fine in my cul-de-sac last month, but I didn't drive on it on dry pavement.

I’m so over it! After dealing with the mess in VA traveling back from SC we’ve had brutal cold here and I’m probably going to die taking out the trash tonight on my rink/driveway.

The good news is that over the weekend I officially accepted a new permanently remote job and in two weeks time I will be free to move anywhere I’d like.

Awesome news! I wish my job was the type that could be full remote. If we decide to punch our cards in Michigan and head south, I'll need a career path change anyway, but I don't see better than 80% remote in my future. I'm 80% now and that will fall to 40% if I get a new program rather than take on a different position within my office that my AGM and GM talked to me about (not banking on it).

Lol!!!! Nothing here. Not even as hard of a frost as some days over the past 2 weeks.

Think a snow brush snuck it’s way down with us if you want to borrow.

Good luck to all those living in a snow globe today!!!!!

Looks like the whole northeast coast is getting blasted. Bitter cold here in southern Ontario but no more snow since we got blasted last week.

Ah, that was the "WTF" heard 'round the world!

Just bitter cold here, though I'm used to it enough now that I sometimes don't bother with a coat to let the dog out... hasn't been above freezing in a couple weeks. Might be warm enough to wash the Jeep on Tuesday without fear of water freezing in the seams, but then we're getting rain that day and a foot of snow Wednesday and Thursday. Can't I get one chance to wash off the salt and keep it off for at least an hour? I've had one warm enough opportunity to wash it this month and it stayed clean for a day.
