I have read about engine pollution on many French engines. I know the cause (exhaust return, direct injection, other issues), but are there any known Chrysler 300m problems related to contamination in the engine?

What do you mean by contamination?
Sludge is not usually a problem with the 3.5L V6. It was a problem with the 1998-2000 2.7L V6 which was available in Euro 300Ms. Both engines like to have the oil changed at reasonable intervals - the 2.7 especially so, but they do not have direct injection as they were designed before that time. A properly working PCV valve is helpful along with proper engine sealing to prevent oil smell, but I'm not sure either of these things is what you meant.
