Well, there hasn't been a new post in this area for a LONG time...so is there any new products on the market that people are using? I have a car meet in july and my engine hasn't been cleaned since before I drove it off the dealership lot. So that is 40k miles of dirt, grime, ect...

I was just wondering if there was any new products or any updated techniques to cleaining the engine...

TIA,
Jason

Doubt this is anything new, I tried an engine degreaser, but grease really wasn't my problem from other posts its oxidation/salt, here's a pic:

What I did was to use brass wire brushes and my dremel, I ordered a set of the wheel, cup, and point brushes to get the crap off. I used a hand held wood wire brush to see how it worked and that's where I got the idea to use the dremel and their wire brushes. I only experimented with it, I didn't do much other than 'scrape' the crap off, I will try a better cleaning when I can let the car sit then try a high temp clear coating or even a ceramic paint on some surfaces to see how that holds up.

Here's after, this is JUST using wire brushes, no water, and a rag to wipe off the dust and vacuum to try and keep it from flying around.

IT was really shiny at first, after a few days/weeks of sitting it kinda recollects dust or loses its 'polish' but is still cleaner than the b4 pic.
Later I tried using a couple of nylon plastic brushes that came with the dremel for plastic and rubber components covered in dust/dirt worked pretty well.

I couldn't find one of the products recommended in a previous post, online or in any auto store, just generic degreasers. If you try this and you have a cone air intake, cover it with a rag or something, and a mask would be a good idea too. :D
