I have an '02 300M with 48K miles on it. The Check Engine light came on and I took it to the local Chrysler dealer. They replaced a switch located on top of the gas tank that monitors fuel fumes. Because they had to remove the gas tank, the bill ended up being $699.

Isn't this supposed to be covered as part of the Evap System under the warranty?

If you have an Extended Chrysler Warranty, it should be covered.

I don't have an extended warranty, but I was under the impression that some smog-related parts were covered longer than the normal warranty period. I guess I was wrong, but thanks, anyway.

I think I recall reading in my Owners Manual that the main things covered under the 8/80 emissions performance warranty were the PCM and the Catalytic Converters.
