Pictures will pretty much show how the process goes. I'm not close to being finished but figured i'd start a thread for it.

next step epoxy plastic shell to wood. Picture just shows the foam to show why the plastic back was cut out to accommodate the bolt heads. So it could sit flat onto the wood and then epoxied down

Going to wrap the new arm rest with the center console lids leather and staple it to the wood. Last step will be to drill some holes into the old arm rest use another piece of material for the underside of the armrest so the crack is more structurally sound... Bolt down and enjoy. I'll add more pics when it's finished..

ok, not quite done yet...

test fitting. It currently sits out a bit from the original armrest but thats ok for me. I could adjust it in more by removing more material but i'll leave it as is.

Wow...looks like a lot of work but will be a lasting repair/mod. As our cars age, we will have to be innovative in maintaining and repairing even the little things on our cars. Job well done. Is it comfortable to rest your arm on the increased height?

I haven't driven the car yet with the new armrest but I drive with my left hand and my elbow always found a way to dig into the crack and get pinched. Ill update tho

For anyone curious... Yes the rubber/foam armrest in the Concords and other non leather armrests is literally the inside foam for the leather armrests with the leather stapled onto the plastic shell. Hopefully that made sense.

Honestly all the work that was put into the armrest was definitely worth it. Even if your armrest isn't cracked it's a worthwhile mod.

Not only does it add comfort because of the crack being gone and padding it adds a bit of extra height which for me works out perfectly for my driving style. It doesn't get in the way while driving because of the tapered front. It feels like I'm sitting in comfortable leaher armchair now.

Would recommend.
