Greetings all!
A few years ago, I purchased a reasonably priced 2003 300M Special in Graphite Metallic for my daily driver/commuter. It has proven to be a comfortable, stylish, and economical car. As a testament to it's styling, many people often think it's a new car, and not 18 years old! Needless to say, I'm happy with my purchase.
One thing that has struck me as odd, though, is how quiet my exhaust seems to be when compared to other stock 300M Specials. My friend's Dad, for instance, has a 2002 with about 40 000 Kms on it, and it sounds very aggressive. I suspect the previous owner of my car had swapped to a quieter muffler at some point, but I'm not sure.
I crawled underneath the car, and took a picture of the numbers on the muffler (attached). Does anyone know if this is, in fact, the factory muffler for this car?
If not, does anyone know the part number for it?
Thanks so much!
P.S. The numbers on my muffler are as follows:
04581444AA
85042-8
72255
