Hey so i have a 2001 300M with a little over 100k on it i was driving it one day at about 30mph and it felt like it dropped into neutral and started a high pitch whine, it feels like a bad tranny but i've heard about all the other things (some better options, some worse) that it could be and just a bad tranny wouldn't explain the whine, and the part that gets me is how sudden it happened, it literally had no warning. I also got the code 0700 when i looked it up, any help would be very appreciated.

Most of the time in 2001+ it is almost always the Solenoid Pack/Valve body in the Tranny when the P0700 comes up

Has the tranny been serviced at all? Have you checked the fluid level following the correct proceedures?
